Amy Sol

“It’s easy to think of art as an escape but really I need it to feel centered and more fulfilled as a human”

Amy Sol is an American artist born in 1981 in Korea, who currently resides in Las Vegas, Nevada. She is recognized for her contributions to the Pop Surreal and Lowbrow art movements, often described as “cartoon-tainted abstract surrealism” by Robert Williams. Sol is primarily self-taught, having developed her unique style through experimentation and a deep appreciation for visual imagery from a young age, influenced by her childhood experiences in Korea and her creative family background.

Artistic style:

Sol’s artwork typically features young maidens set against dreamlike landscapes populated by whimsical creatures. These characters often interact with animals in a manner that suggests companionship rather than ownership, reflecting a mystical bond between them. Her compositions are characterized by a muted color palette, incorporating soft pastels and washed-out grays, which evoke a sense of tranquility and introspection. The landscapes she creates are filled with exotic plants, impossible trees, and ethereal elements like mist and fog, drawing inspiration from folk art, contemporary illustration, and manga.
